Passion for Photography

When you photograph people in colour you photograph their clothes. But when you photograph people in B&W, you photograph their souls! ~Ted Grant "quotegarden"

Photography enables us to capture the very essence of our humanity. The diversity that dwells inside each and every single one of us. It's an art that fights against the ever growing concept of "fitting in" and "conforming" to what the world wants us to be. It's a platform to explore endless possibilities limited by only your own limitations which themselves can be stretched.

For a world without photography is a world without ourselves and the inability to remember those we love the most. This reminds of a famous quote for the movie "The Curious Case of Benjamin Button" When the one of the elderly person passed away, the famous Oprah elderly singer said to Benjamin "For it's only through death that we're really reminded of those we really care". And so photography, just like death, helps us remember those we truly care about.

Happy shooting!

Oh my Aperture...

Went to bed just over midnight (and obviously got to work late) trying out the dynamics between aperture, shutter speed, exposure, white balance and field of depth. You may be thinking (so did I), "That's not a clever way of spending a Monday night!"

Anyway, got my lens out, choose a specific spot as a point of reference and going shooting. First setting was as follows:

  1. Mode: Aperture
  2. White Balance: Sun (Stupid, I know)
  3. Aperture: 4.5
  4. Shutter speed: 1/30
The results were horrendous!! The combination of low light conditions, fast shutter speed and wrong white balance produced "Level 0 photographs". So after watching some tutorials and reading the camera manual (strongly recommended) The following settings enabled me to get really bright and balanced pictured in even under low light conditions.
  1. Mode: Shutter Speed
  2. White balance: Tungsten (+1)
  3. Shutter speed: 0.4"
  4. ISO: 1600
And the results speak for themselves!!

Welcome to Carino Photography

Carino Photography believes the world can be a better place when we start to appreciate the small things in our lives: The sunset on a cold winter's day, the eyes of a new born baby ; the smile of a little child, the love between father and daughter, the commitment between a married couple and the "Oh so Cute!" moments. Carino (means 'cute' in Italian) Photography strives to bring  this power of photography to reminds us we can be better people by capturing those moments thereby reminding us of the priceless gifts in our lives.

Welcome to Carino Photography!
