Last year we got to shoot a very special wedding. So we decided that it was time to upgrade and unnerve my photography skills and launch myself in the realm of top-end photography camera bodies. So on came the use of the Nikon D7100.
As usual, prior to receiving the gadget I downloaded the the user manual and immediately was drawn into why Nikon is such a popular brand. It was clear that a pragmatic mastermind was behind such successful products.

I know there's been many reviews so this post is not into the technical details but rather into my experience using this techpod during a rural South African wedding ceremony.
One thing can be said. It's a a powerful weapon in the arsenal of any serious photographer. Although this is not recommended for the novice happy snapper, the learning curve can also be quite steep for the seasoned entry-level DSLR camera user. The many dedicated buttons that need to be used to capture that perfect picture. The most important piece of feature is the locking mechanism on the dial to change shooting modes. The worst thing that can happen is only realising halfway through a particular scene you've been using the wrong settings. Happened to me a thousand times!!!
The camera feels quite heavy especially with the monster Nikon 24-70mm F2.8 Lens attached to it. That's a constant 2kg weight on one hand which my tripod struggles to rigidly support it at acute angles. Nevertheless, the quality of the camera shines through it's massive aperture capability. The ability to due some advanced post-processing on the camera is a welcomed feature although most people won't use it (unless you're a long flight and your laptop is battery-dead).
Overall the camera is well worth the money. There's tons of features for the novice to the studio professional liking. The pics of the wedding are coming soon!!!
